The significance of this 7 x 8 ¾” shot? It served as the blueprint for Paige’s highly sought after rookie card, released by Leaf in 1949, marking his momentous crossover from the Negro Leagues to Major League Baseball with Cleveland.
But wait, there is another Paige portrait up for grabs. An uncommon black-and-white Type I original photograph of Paige, proudly adorned in his Kansas City Monarchs uniform. The auction’s starting whistle has already rung, offering a jaw-dropping collectible lineup spanning over 900 items, each weaving their unique narratives into the panoramic tapestry of the 20th century.
