In the world of sports memorabilia, few items stir as much excitement as rare baseball cards, and the PWCC December Premier Auction is no exception. With collectors worldwide eagerly waiting, two of the most coveted cards from the T206 set, known as the Big Four, are up for grabs.
A standout in this auction is the T206 Eddie Plank card, graded SGC 1. This particular card has received a grade from SGC, and an additional 21 have been graded by PSA. Despite showing signs of age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and corner and edge damage, the value and rarity of the Plank card remain undisputed. This appearance at auction is notable as it marks the fourth time this year a Plank card has been available for purchase. Previous sales include an SGC 1 Plank card that fetched $75,000 last February and a PSA 2.5 variant that commanded $168,000 in August.
Joining the Plank card is the PSA 2 graded Sherry "Magie" error card, another prestigious item from the T206 set. This card features a misspelling of Sherry Magee's last name and is considered one of the most renowned rarities in the collection, alongside the T206 Honus Wagner and “NY Nat’l” Joe Doyle cards.
While the T206 cards steal the show, the auction also boasts an impressive array of Michael Jordan cards, a testament to the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. The Jordan collection includes some thrilling highlights, such as the 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals (#/50) graded BGS 9, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies (#/50) graded PSA 8, the 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future (#/72) graded PSA 9, and the 1984-85 Star Company XRC in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades.
The auction doesn't stop at baseball and basketball, as it also features modern hockey treasures. Collectors can glimpse at items like the 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid RPA (#/12) and the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby RPA (#/99), both graded BGS 8.
The PWCC December Premier Auction has already begun and will continue accepting bids until December 21st. This highly anticipated event offers collectors a rare opportunity to own a piece of sports history. Whether you're a baseball, basketball, or hockey fan, this auction is sure to pique your interest. Don't miss the chance to add these iconic cards and collectibles to your own cherished sports memorabilia collection.
